When you lose on the road in overtime, it is fair to feel a little bitter or disheartened, especially with the chance to pull off an upset on No. 5 Oklahoma. Many college football teams react poorly after a loss like that.
Army is not your average football team, and West Point’s finest left a classy message for Oklahoma Sooners fans and players upon their return home from a 28-21 loss.
Tweeting out a picture of an immaculately clean locker room that would make any drill sergeant proud, Army’s equipment staff said, “Leave it how you found it. Thanks for the hospitality @OU_Football!”
While Oklahoma’s equipment and janitorial staffs clearly appreciate the gesture, the rest of the college football world quickly took notice. That includes ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
“This is AWESOME,” Herbstreit tweeted. “This needs to become a trend for all teams and all coaches at EVERY level. Congrats @CoachJeffMonken on your teams effort last night and this example of perspective and class!!! Love it!!”
The Oklahoma Sooners went into Saturday as massive favorites behind Heisman Trophy candidate Kyler Murray, but Army surprised with a gritty effort on both sides of the ball.
