The Carmichaels Mikes pulled away in the second quarter yesterday against the hosting A.J. McMullen Red Raiders and never looked back. Although the game remained back-and-forth through the opening minutes of the second period, Carmichaels sprinted away to a 23–9 halftime lead. Each team scored eight points in the third quarter before Carmichaels outscored A.J. 16–5 in the final period.
Xavier Murray scored 11 points to lead A.J. McMullen. Wade Brugger added four points. Nick Torbich, Grayden Plume, and Levi Gilleland each added two points. Gilleland had missed six consecutive contests due to injury before returning for this game and needs 14 points to reach 100 points for the season (Murray leads the team on the season with 119 points). Riley Livingood chipped in a point.
Torbich pulled down nine rebounds during the game. Xavier Murray had six rebounds. Levi Gilleland and Riley Livingood each had five rebounds. Gilleland finished the game with two blocks.
Murray snagged five of the Raiders’ 13 steals during the game.
Carmichaels also defeated A.J. 13–4 in an abbreviated second game.
